Steam's New Free Game is for All The Sims Lovers Out There

A new free game is available to play on Steam now, and The Sims fans in particular may enjoy this one.

Avakin Life is a life simulator game in the vein of The Sims and inZOI, where you create a digital avatar, decorate your home, and interact with other avatars.

Unlike The Sims, however, it’s an MMO. So these other avatars are actually other players populating the game servers.

Avakin Life was released into Steam Early Access earlier this week, but it seems it hasn’t made a huge splash.

At the time of writing, it has a 24-hour peak of 697 players, which isn’t particularly huge for a game that needs full servers of real people.

Still, it should be enough to populate a few servers, depending on where you live. If you’re in a remote area, you might have to deal with high ping servers just to be able to play with other human beings.

“Discover unlimited ways to be you,” reads the official description for Avakin Life on Steam. “Enter a virtual world of endless opportunities, a wardrobe packed with the latest fashion, your dream home in every location imaginable, and new adventures, parties and events happening every day!

“This is YOUR life as you want to live it. A world where self-expression is boundless. A virtual universe connecting people from everywhere around the world.”

As it’s an Early Access title, expect updates in the coming weeks and months that aim to tighten the experience and iron out the bugs.

“During Early Access, we plan to roll out UI/UX improvements, control tuning, economy balancing, performance boosts, smoother onboarding, and enhanced social tools based on your input,” writes developer Lockwood Publishing.

“In the first six months post-launch, we plan to release new social and gameplay systems, expanded VIP perks, quarterly tentpole events, weekly limited-time challenges, monthly fashion contests, and hundreds of fresh customization items.”

If you fancy it, you can download Avakin Life by heading to its Steam page and clicking Play Game.
