Steam new free download will ruin your life like Balatro

Steam has a new free download available, and it might just take over your life.

Balatro was a massive craze for a lot of us last year, and it feels like it’s created a taste for more card-based and poker-themed indie games.

I’m sure we’ll see more of these types of games pop up over the next few years, and one game in particular that's hitting Steam could be set to ruin your life in the exact same way as Balatro.

Gamblers Table is an incremental game that has you tossing coins to earn money. Every time the coin lands on heads, you earn money. The more you toss, the more you earn.

You can use the money to buy bigger coins that give you better rewards. It’ll also allow you to unlock upgrades and hire helpers to automate the process.

Okay, so it’s not quite as complicated as Balatro, but you get the idea. Clickers and other types of idle games have been quite popular in the last few years due to how relatively simple and easy to pick up they are.

For example, there was a period during the COVID-19 pandemic where I became obsessed with a game called Scream Collector, which was basically a haunted house themed version of this idea.

Gamblers Table seems to be the latest in this long line of incremental games you might play if you want to pass the time, and luckily there’s a free demo available for you to play now. You can play it by heading to the Steam store page and selecting Install Demo.

“This game has so much potential, I can't wait to see more,” reads one review for the demo. “If you like numbers, flipping coins, and numbers getting bigger with more coins to flip... check this game out!”

“Quite compelling and feels great to play,” reads another review. “Prestige is a bit slow at the start in the demo but overall it's a great idle game.”

Gamblers Table’s demo is available to play now, while the full game does not yet have a release date.
