Silent Hill and perhaps Five Nights at Freddy’s fans might want to check out this new horror game on Steam, for free.
When it comes to psychological horror in the video game realm, there aren’t many that do it better than Konami’s Silent Hill series, especially when it concerns the original trilogy, as well as the fantastic 2024 Silent Hill 2 remake.
Sure, there have been its fair share of misses, but for the most part, the folks at Konami know how to tell terrifying stories that will leave a psychological scar for years to come. It sounds bad, but if you’re a Silent Hill fan, you love it!
The game that is the main topic of this article is called Unhost, developed and published by the indie team at Lumrak Games.
“You are a paranormal detective in an abandoned hospital. Monitor surveillance cameras and use a remote-controlled robot to capture anomalies,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam. “Collect evidence, explore your surroundings, make contact with ghosts. Survive seven nights of horror and uncover the truth.”

After watching its gameplay trailer, Unhost not only gives me spooky P.T vibes, but its ghost hunting shenanigans very much remind me of a lot of the popular investigative co-op horror game, Phasmophobia.
What’s more, with you being tasked with working in a creepy location, home of dangerous beings, Unhost also gives me Five Nights at Freddy’s vibes. Silent Hill, meets Phasmophobia, meets Five Nights at Freddy's, sounds like a big win to me.
At this time, there’s not a lot said about Unhost, and I mean no disrespect. It’s a very new indie game that probably hasnt had a lot of exposure, as I write this. But for what it’s worth, two people have left reviews on its Steam demo page, albeit not written. That being said, I at least think the trailers for the game look promising.
Not at the time of writing, however, it is scheduled to be released on Steam sometime in 2026. Assuming Unhost suffers no delay.
Furthermore, from what we can see, there is no word of Unhost coming to consoles. Well, at least not yet. Thankfully, if you are a PC gamer, you can download and play the early release demo for Unhost right now, courtesy of Steam.
If you enjoyed playing the Unhost demo or just think the trailers look promising, it might be worth adding it to your Steam wishlist to be notified of its launch.
