Steam's Latest Freebie Is 'Extremely Fun', Gamers Agree

A monster of a freebie

Steam’s latest free game is described as “extremely fun”, and it’s available to download right now.

There are loads of games to check out in the vast abyss that is the Steam store, with some games better than others. As such, it can be difficult to choose what game to play next, even if that game is a freebie.

Even if we download a game that hasn't cost us a penny, we can still feel short-changed with the time we’ve spent playing it. Thankfully, those moments may be few and far between.

That’s unless you spend some of your time playing the abomination that is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Honestly, you’d struggle giving away that game for free.

However, one game that hopefully won't be a complete waste of your time is the upcoming Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road, developed by

Ludogram and published by Raw Fury.

“Beware, Monsters are Coming! In this Tower-Survivor rogue-lite, you protect an ever-moving city from unrelenting hordes,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam. “Gather resources, fortify defences, and boost potential through enhanced player progression. Will you reach the Arch?”

Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road does not have a release date at the time of writing, but you can download and play its free demo right now. What’s more, this action, indie strategy game has a Steam user review rating of “Very Positive.”

“Extremely fun and unique mix of action roguelike, and base building with a moving castle. It's very easy to want to do a new run over and over again,” wrote Kitamarie.

“Pretty good demo, which shows the gameplay the developers seem to be aiming for,” said JustAnAvidReader. “I’ve already put a few hours in after downloading the demo. I’ll definitely be following it.”

“A beautiful and successful merge of tower defence with horde survival on rails, dopamine keeps flowing. I can't wait to play the full release,” exclaimed Devil Jason.

Be sure to wishlist Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road on Steam to be notified of its full launch.
