Steam users can get a free taste of an upcoming and promising RPG from famed developer Square Enix.

When it comes to delivering high-quality and fantastical RPGs over the years, it doesn't get much better than what’s been achieved by Square Enix. From Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest, to name a few, this Japanese giant knows how to deliver.

However, it’s not just huge AAA RPGs that Square Enix knows how to deliver, as we’ve seen with projects on a much smaller scale, like Octopath Traveler or I Am Setsuna. Yet, there is another Square Enix RPG to look out for, and that’s the brand new, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is developed in collaboration with the indie studio, Claytechworks, with the support of Square Enix, and ahead of its launch, you can check out the game right now, for free, with its prologue demo.

Old-School RPG Fans Will Love This!

“A brand-new action RPG from the creators of Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default – The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales combines stunning HD-2D visuals and exciting action-adventure gameplay for the first time!” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

“The adventurer Elliot and his fairy sidekick Faie set off on a journey across four ages to fulfil a thousand-year mission. Enjoy intuitive and rewarding action-based battles with strategic support abilities from a fairy as you reveal this world’s mysterious history.”

The gameplay for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales looks like it's a blast, battling intense foes in real-time and the sprite visuals look stunning, not to mention it has all the old-school Final Fantasy vibes.

“Final Fantasy Adventures of the Red Mage,” said vjbd2757, in the comments section of the demo trailer.

“I just finished Octopath Traveler 0 after 100+ hours, I can't wait for this game!” declared VantaBlack216.

“This game looks like it will be one of the best games of 2026,” predicted DanielGeelie.

Where Else Can I Play The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Demo?

The playable demo of The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is not only available on Steam, but it’s also available digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. What’s more, your progress from the demo will carry over into the full game at launch, should you make the purchase.

When Is the Release Date?

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales releases on 18 June 2026, so it's only just a month away.
