Steam Drops RPG Demo Download, Aesthetics are Dope

Surf’s Up!

The PC platform Steam has dropped a free demo for an upcoming RPG, and it looks great. It may even be a surprise hit of 2026; we never know.

Steam is packed full of games from AAA big hitters, indie darlings and beloved retro classics. You won't be short of fantastic games to play that can keep you busy for hours on end, especially over the festive period. That being said, it is also crammed with asset-flip trash, but sometimes, you’ve got to take the good with the bad.

With so many Steam games to choose from, it can get a little overwhelming to pick something decent from the crowd. We can always look at the best-sellers and trending charts, but even then, games can be easily missed.

One such game could have been this indie title that looks like it could be a lot of fun. The game in question is called Surfpunk, developed and published by Double Stallion.

Surfpunk Looks Like a Blast

“Join up with friends or go solo as you scavenge loot across a massive, monster-infested archipelago,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

“Work together to succeed against overwhelming odds, grab as much loot as you can, and escape in style by surfing a massive tsunami wave to become the most legendary surfer-pirates of the sea!

“Use your high-speed 'Rushboard' to hop between islands and tow your loot barge around procedurally generated tropical islands. Choose from multiple objective types, where each one has you exploring and looting while managing increasing pressure from enemies.”

“Yessss! Can't wait to surf with my pals!” said PapiPench in the comments section of the YouTube demo trailer.

“This is exactly what I wanted,” declared clansullivan6059.

“Can't wait! I love this world you guys built,” commented Laughingcoyote1213.

“Came for the loot, stayed for the siren!” exclaimed vitaminaxion4774.

During the free demo, it’s playable with friends or on your lonesome; you’ll have access to the Sunken Ruins, infested with monsters known as “archipelago” that will stop at nothing to kill and prevent you from scavenging precious resources. The game intends you to fight, survive, loot and escape using your trusty surfboard.

At the time of writing, Surfpunk does not have a release date; hopefully, it will arrive at some point in 2026.

At least for now, you can download and play its free demo and add the game to your Steam wishlist to be notified of its launch.
