There is perhaps no more effective storytelling medium than that of gaming; the way our complicity in an experience can deepen our connection to the narrative is not to be underestimated.
It’s no surprise that Hollywood has come knocking on gaming’s door in recent years, with major adaptations of brilliant stories like those of The Last of Us and Fallout franchises.
If these types of deeply affecting narratives are right up your alley, you’re not going to want to miss Robot Hospice.
Developed by Buttercup Garden and published by dokogames, this free-to-play adventure game recently landed on PC storefront Steam, and it has garnered perfect reviews from players.

In fact, at the time of writing, it boasts a 100% perfect score.
This brief experience can be completed in just a couple of hours with players drawing attention to just how moved they were by the title.
“A beautiful game, I have no other words to describe it,” remarked one gamer.
“I absolutely loved this game, the story is very emotional and beautiful and the visuals are very aesthetically [pleasing],” added another, while someone said, “Incredibly beautiful game, I am crying so much right now.”
There’s nothing like a bit of catharsis every now and then.
Robot Hospice is a 2D pixel art adventure set within a hospice where robots spend the final days of their electronic lives.
Yes, you’re going to want to have some tissues nearby.
You’ll step into the shoes of a new staff member at the hospital as they get to know the faulty robots in their final days.

“As Midori, a new staff member, you will interact with these robots, share their memories, and face both partings and self-discovery along the way,” the synopsis reads.
There are five robots featured in the game in total and you’ll need to help guide them all through their final moments.
The more you talk to a robot and learn about its life lived alongside humans, the more your bond will strengthen.
By the end of your time with said robot, your goal is to have encouraged them to open up about both their past and their final wishes.
The gameplay consists of choice-based narrative options, so what you pick will determine how you and the robots each part and say goodbye.
You’re going to want to try and make each ending as peaceful as possible via your choices.
The game is soundtracked by what the developers refer to as “classic Famicom tunes” so there should be a nice nostalgic feeling throughout.
The estimated play time is, as mentioned, only one to two hours so you can complete Robot Hospice in a single evening without harming your backlog.
As is usually the case these days, Robot Hospice does annoyingly come accompanied by an AI disclosure on Steam.
Developers used AI for the generation of some in-game scripts, the translation of in-game texts, and the translation of the Steam store page so if that’s a deal-breaker for you, it’s something to keep in mind.
