Steam has dropped four free games that you can download and play right now, and it includes a “must-play” horror that you need to check out.

There are tons of free games that you can download and play right now from the PC platform Steam. However, some are most certainly better than others, and that’s putting it mildly. Sure, there are plenty of free bangers on the platform, but on the flipside, there are also tons of freebies that fall into the shovelware category.

Thankfully, at least, for the most part, you can rely on the Steam user community to inform us whether or not a game is worth our precious time, regardless of whether it's a random freebie, indie darling or AAA giant.

With that in mind, as brought to our attention by the Twitter account, ‘Free Steam Games’, here are four freebies that, for the most part, should absolutely be worth your time.

The Wheelchair Man, Deformed Studios

The Wheelchair Man absolutely looks like the ever-popular, turned movie creator, Markiplier, would stream on his YouTube channel.

The premise of this game is simple: you just need to gather $5,000 from a building and leave. The only problem is that you have a crazed man in a wheelchair with supernatural abilities and an uneasy scream that will turn you into a nervous wreck. This game looks like it could be a lot of fun.

At the time of writing, The Wheelchair Man is rated as “Very Positive” from 64 Steam user reviews. Here’s what CorgiCam had to say: “For free, this is a must-play for any indie horror fans!” they declared.

“Super simple design, super simple gameplay. But it does it well and doesn't overstay its welcome! Super creepy, and being constantly chased definitely keeps you on edge to make sure you don't get cornered. I would love to see more from this dev.”

Gunk, Rye

Gunk is a rougelike-inspired survival game where you have to fight off waves of oddly unnerving clone characters. These clone entities are called Gunk’s, and the only way to stop them from invading our planet is by throwing rocks at them. Sounds like a silly load of fun to me. This is probably the most basic game in this article in terms of visuals and gameplay, but in a funny kind of way, that only adds to its charm. Though it does appear to have some bugs, according to some users.

At the time of writing, Gunk is rated as “Positive” from 43 user reviews. “The mechanics are very simple, but it all comes together shockingly well. It's got a good mix of difficulty and little gameplay quirks to hook you for at least a few good, satisfying runs,” wrote Shape.

Geode, PhD

Geode kinda reminds me of a concoction of Vampire Survivors with its graphical presentation, mixed with the crafting of Minecraft with tower defence mechanics. In Geode, you can play on your lonesome or with up to seven other players, and you must protect all your Core Crystals from waves of enemies.

Right now, Geode has a “Positive” rating from 22 Steam user reviews. “Great game. Very fun once you get the hang of things. But it’s quite hard. The days are short, and items feel a little expensive, given the resources available. But it's great, and I enjoyed it, and I will definitely play it again. 8/10,” said Shresh.

Blok, JimDublace Studios

Finally, we have Blok, a charming puzzle game with a simple premise of having to match colour blocks to solve puzzles over five levels.

At the time of writing, Blok hasn't received enough Steam user reviews to earn an official rating, but despite being a short and seemingly basic game, three users have written positive reviews. “My only complaint is that this game is criminally short. I got emotionally attached to my little Blok,” said Inactive.
