A new, stunning freebie has dropped on Steam recently, giving players a chance to strategically establish an empire in the gorgeously rendered China.

Releasing as a prologue of what’s to come, Steam players have a chance to grab a sneak peek at this upcoming city management sim.

Celestial Empire: Prologue is already impressing players, earning itself a ‘Very Positive’ rating at the time of writing.

Set in ancient China, this city-builder will test your planning skills, from the placement of villages and stores, to the working irrigation of fields.

Of course, this is just a trial to show what we can expect from the full release, but if you enjoy noodling around, designing cities, laying out the right pieces for everything to flow, then this could be your jam.

Lavished with sumptuous detail, Celestial Empire is shaping up to be a stunning achievement, and one sure to suck up all of our time.

If we dive into the player reviews, it’s clear to see that the game is already proving to be a success.

“Love it! Strong Zeus and Pharaon vibes. The game is really fun!” exclaims one player in their positive review.

Another user writes, “Visuals are stunning, animation is smooth, plenty of statistics for the nerds, fantasy elements for the spiritual, dynamic camera movement for the content creators, a well-rounded, well-thought-out, beautiful game.”

The PC is not wanting for new strategy games, or city-builders, so it takes a lot to impress players and stand out.

Perhaps with a focus on ancient China, this one will prove itself and become a beloved entry into the genre.

Another reviewer notes the prologue is, “A promising start for fans of historical strategy sims.”

With a good reception, so far, and plenty to come in the future, this is definitely one to try out.
