Steam has just dropped four new free games available to download at no extra cost.

One of the best things about PC gaming is that you often have a rather large selection of free games to play. Just from browsing the front page of Steam, you'll usually find a handful of new ones to check out.

Well, it's that time again. Steam has just added four new free games for you to check out. Let's dive into them, shall we?

Here are the four free games that have been added to Steam this week:

  • Surrelia Adventures, a 3D platformer with colourful graphics and puzzle mechanics, where two characters from different worlds are transported to the world of Surrelia and must work together to find their way back home.
  • The Ranger: Border Hunt, an action horror game where you play as a ranger and must escape from a monster in a dark forest. You can't fight back, so the only option is to run to avoid dangers.
  • Bank Shot, a pool table bullet hell game where you ram enemies to send them flying into the pockets or pelt them until they break.
  • Juvenate, a 2.5D platformer that was developed by students at the Savannah College of Art and Design, in which you journey across three distinct levels—each featuring unique environments, enemies, and mechanics.

As for which of these games are worth checking out, it's a good idea to check the Steam review scores for each game. At the moment, it appears that all four games have positive reviews, which is good. With them being new releases, I'd imagine more reviews may flood in over time.

If you want to try out any of these games for yourself, be sure to visit their respective Steam pages and select "Play Now" from just underneath the media gallery.

Of course, make sure that your PC can actually run these games. While most of them appear to be low-spec titles, it's best to compare the minimum and recommended specs against what your machine currently has.

In related Steam news, Valve is currently hosting Steam Next Fest which brings thousands of free game demos to the store for you to try. It's a good way of trying some games out which you may be interested in.

Steam Next Fest runs until 20 October, so you've still got just under a week to play anything you fancy loading onto your PC.
