Steam has just dropped nine new free games for you to play, and it might be the best way to close out your week.

One of the best things about Steam is you have a near-constant stream of free games to play when the budget becomes a little tight.

Simply have a nosey at the front page of Steam, go down to New Releases, and you’ve got a fair range of things to choose from. So there’s bound to be something that takes your fancy.

Well, it’s that time again. Nine new free games have just hit the Steam storefront, and we’re going to summarise them here in case any of them are of interest to you.

Let’s dive in, shall we?

The nine new games available on Steam this week are:

  • Game for Aliens, a roguelite top-down shooter where you must protect your character from on-screen enemies as they attack from each corner of your screen.
  • Grid Wipe, a puzzle game where you clear a grid by adding or subtracting numbers. Each move affects a selected cell and its orthogonal neighbors, requiring careful planning to complete the puzzle.
  • FOR GOD'S SAKE, HELP HIM!, a tiny surreal game where your only goal is to help him, whoever he is, and in whatever way you can. It’s quite an odd one, this.
  • Rock Clicker, October’s clicker game flavour of the month. Come on now, you know you want to.
  • Habbo Hotel: Origins, the latest of the Habbo series. This one feels like a throwback to our childhoods, though this one seems to be getting mixed reviews due to rather aggressive monetisation.
  • Quiz Pinball: The Quiz You Didn't Know You Needed, a quite bizarre quiz game that’s all to do with pinball machines.
  • Arithmetic Arena, a competitive math-challenge game built on the ELO ranking system. It looks too complicated for me as someone who got a C in GCSE Maths, but someone will find this fun.
  • BA: The City Within, an adventure survival game set in Seoul in the aftermath of a war and a series of biochemical attacks. You play as a survivor exploring the ruins of the city.
  • ONE IN THE BACK, a puzzle game presented in the form of different escape rooms, and features some nicely done art.

If you’re interested in playing any of these games, simply head to their respective Steam store pages and hit the download button.
