Steam is often host to many free games, many of which slip under the radar because they’re not championed on the store page.

It can be tough to keep up with everything available, as Steam houses hundreds of thousands of games, and promotions start and stop sporadically.

This week, we’ve got eight games to showcase, all of which are completely free to add to your library and download at any time.

The first of which is 2,4D Game, which is an odd name for this platformer which features a myriad of challenges including combat, and top-down exploration.

CREAMARE - The Game is hypnotically beautiful, where you can play as an underwater explorer visiting nine actual real-life destinations in the Mediterranean Sea. It looks lush, but you’ll get hunted by a monster in the depths, so be careful.

MeowFall is another platformer in a 2D pixel style. This one looks lovely, and features plenty of collectible hats for the kitty hero. Searching for the best hat ever? Sounds great to us.

Next up is a game-cum-coding project, in the form of CodeStrike. This is a game that teaches you how to code in Python at the same time, by combining action with programming.

Gemstone Realm makes the jump from mobile platforms, keeping the vertical screen layout, which looks a bit odd, but in these match-three games it feels like par for the course.

If these games are your jam, you might as well add this to your list.

Ever wanted to play a game as a “quiet cow?” Me neither, but this does look appealing in the game Bell & Hoof. A game lasting less than 10 minutes, it’s all walking, and being quiet in the countryside.

Hero Stickman is another mobile game jumping over to Steam positioning itself as an action game featuring stick man heroes, fighting to the death.

Lastly, there’s King of Silence, a chilling horror game where survival is key, despite the creepy shadows looming around you in this forgotten temple.
