Hey, there’s some free games on Steam right now. You wanna download ‘em? You want some links to them? Would you like some little descriptions of said games to go along with said links?

Then you are in luck. Come with me on a short journey, as we break down four of the latest free games that you can download on Steam right this second.

Thank you in advance to the one and only Free Steam Games Twitter account for tracking all of these down. Your efforts are appreciated, anonymous internet person.

As per usual, I’m going to rank these from worst to best– and you may appreciate that a little more than usual, given the first entry on this list…

First up, Bam Bam Boom from developer and publisher Oh Baby Games.

This one is a 2D fighting platformer, so basically akin to the likes of Super Smash Bros. It looks good, character designs seem fine, and this is a relatively underexplored genre so... what's with the terrible reviews?

Pretty simple explanation for this one: it’s not fun to play. Or, as one reviewer on Steam put it, “Looks good, but is bad.”

Alright, from this point onwards, I would say every entry in this list looks, at the very least, interesting.

Case in point: LiveTale: Sandbox Game for Immersive Group Roleplay by developer and publisher Unplay Inc.

I honestly have no idea what you would categorise this game as, nor do I think I entirely understand exactly what you’re supposed to do in the game… but I am very intrigued.

It sounds like it’s sort of just a creative sandbox game, potentially aimed at transferring Dungeons & Dragons campaigns into a digital space. You create characters, build settings, and then hop online with a group and see what happens. Sounds like a cool project, so it gets points for being inventive.

Next up, Challenging Land from developer and publisher POCOYA.

Another weirdly interesting one, because this is an idler game, but with some well-thought out RPG elements baked into it.

I can't say this is my cup of tea, but the reviewers on Steam are being pretty complimentary about it (mostly because it seems like there's a lot of content).

And finally, M.A.L.M.O : Scorched Earth by developer and publisher potato_milki.

Not entirely sure where to start with this one. It's a PvE first person shooter, but it seems as if it's trying to be some kind of riff on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games. It looks bonkers and intentionally low-poly, but the reviewers can't seem to get enough of it.

Worth a go, if not just to find out what the hell the game is about.

Alright, that’s your lot for today… unless, you wanna keep scrolling?

The free Steam games will continue past this point, and will just keep going and going until you make them stop. I’d suggest at least reading the next one though, as the guy who wrote it is super good looking and funny.
