Four free Steam games can be yours right now, and you don’t have to pay for a subscription or go through any weird loopholes to play them. In fact, the only thing you might lose out on by nabbing this is your own free time.
The Steam storefront is currently getting bombarded by dozens, if not hundreds, of free games every single day.
With the rise of AI-assisted development tools and the ever-growing pool of indie developers to make them, new free titles are abundant. But how do you parse through all the noise and find the free diamonds in the rough?
That’s what I’m here for, so buckle up and come on a short journey with me, as we take a look at four free games on Steam (and try to figure out if they’re even worth downloading).

As per usual, thank you in advance to the Free Steam Games Twitter account for collating the list we’ll be pulling from today!
Ok, so, most of the time when I write these lists, I try to rank the titles on offer from worst to best. Unfortunately, there’s no review consensus for any of the games featured today, so I’m just going to throw them out in a random order. Here we go.
First up, SpikerMan Game (no, I didn't add the "Game" bit myself) is an RPG Maker action-adventure RPG from developer and publisher spikerman87.
This one looks like it’s a passion project from someone who just really loves the characters they’ve designed, and I can respect that (for free, at least). I will say that RPG Maker games on Steam are often more miss than hit however, so go into this one with low expectations.

Next up, Splat Splat from developer and publisher Ape Brain Games.
This essentially looks like a collection of Mario Party-style PvP games that sees you face off against your mates in local multiplayer. The art style is a little heavy on the eyes, but could be a fun one to try out with a friend.
Spencer's Spaghetti Quest is a PvE FPS from developer and publisher Epitaph Games that looks sort of like Pizza Tower had a baby with the OG Doom.
Not gonna lie, I think playing this for longer than an hour might give me a headache, but I appreciate that the dev went all-in on the intentionally hideous art style.

And finally, The Tale of Oath is an action RPG from developer Team Quessant and publisher Sherpherd Games.
This one is probably the closest thing you're going to get to a AAA project on this list, and I think what's on offer is pretty impressive considering a team of students built it from the ground up. If you only end up trying out one game on this list, make sure it's this one.
That’s your whole list, for now!
But don’t worry, there’s so many free Steam games every single hour, that I bet we’ll have another one of these out before the end of the day. Or, you could just keep scrolling…
