One classic 2007 game just disappeared from Steam entirely, and nobody can seem to figure out why. Better hope you’ve got this one in your library still, because it seems like there’s a good chance that this wasn’t a mistake…
If you’re old and you have back problems like I do, you’ve probably heard the age old phrase “But can it run Crysis?”
Well, if you’re a Steam user, the answer is no– because the game has randomly been delisted from the platform entirely.

As noticed by PCGamesN's Jessica Orr, the original 2007 release of Crysis hasn’t been available to purchase on Steam for a while now. However, there was a bit of a work around.
Although the standalone version of Crysis was removed back in 2021, you could still own the game on Steam by purchasing the Crysis Maximum Edition bundle. This bundle came packaged with Crysis and the 2008 standalone expansion Crysis Warhead.
It seems someone out there either forgot to renew some kind of licensing fee or opted to take it off of Steam on purpose, as the Crysis Maximum Edition bundle can no longer be found on Steam at all. Weirdly, Crysis Warhead can still be purchased, although you’d have absolutely no idea what’s going on if you played that one before the original game.
You can still purchase Crysis Remastered though, so at least some version of the game still exists on the platform. You also can still redownload the original Crysis too, as long as you purchased the game prior to it being delisted.

So, what’s going on here? Is this a mistake? Some kind of licensing oversight? Who knows.
I had a look at the official Crysis website and a few of their social accounts, but I couldn’t find any kind of reference to the game being removed.
Hopefully it is just some kind of mistake, because Crysis feels like an important part of gaming history to me. Finally owning a PC that was powerful enough to actually play it felt like a big deal, and honestly… it’s still just a fun game regardless.
