Steam drops 3 new free downloads you've 1 week to claim

Reel in these freebies before it's too late

Roll up, Steam users.

Do you fancy getting your hands on a couple of free gifts that’ll customise and spruce up your profile?

Well, probably not but listen, it’s all I’ve got to offer - and they do say you should never look a gift horse in the mouth.

The latest ‘fest’ is underway on Steam; Steam Fishing Fest is where you can sample a ton of free fishing game demos, take advantage of hefty offers and, relevant to this article, nab some free gifts to use on your Steam profile.

There are three up for grabs.

First up is the ‘Sassy Bass’ animated avatar which features a happy lil fish swaying from side to side as it avoids a hook.

I’ll admit, it’s kind of cute.

There’s also the ‘Blue Ripple’ avatar frame which has no obvious fishing link, so this one’s definitely more mass appeal - or should I say bass appeal, haha.

Finally, you can secure yourself the ‘Buoyant Bait’ animated sticker which is … fine. It’s a floating buoy.

All of these items are available from Steam’s Points Shop, although they won’t cost you any points; they are all listed as free.

Steam Fishing Fest runs until 23 June at 10am PT so it’s likely the three themed gifts will disappear from the store at that point.

That’s quite a way off but I’d act sooner rather than later if you do want to redeem these; you know how easy it is to forget about such things.

I do heartily recommend you check out some of the event’s demos and offers too while you’re on Steam.

The excellent Dave The Diver will currently set you back £10.19 thanks to a 40% off offer, while Dredge is priced at £10.99 thanks to having 50% off.

Both are must play titles in my opinion.

As for demos, Fischer’s Fishing Journey looks like a wonderful cosy title where you play as a cat. It’s an idler so you can leave Fischer to it while you work, or partake in the hard work yourself.
