Steam quietly adds 3 free downloads you've 48 hours to claim

Steam users can download some adorable little customisation options, free-of-charge, on the store page right now.

The following freebies are yours to grab and keep, no strings attached, just a goodwill gesture from Steam basically as a part of the ongoing Wargames Fest. Not as exciting as free games mind you, but they’re there if you want them.

Have you been playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? It’s a banger, and it’s on Xbox Game Pass if you have a subscription.

From 30 April to 5 May, you’ll be able to claim three military themed profile options, an avatar, a frame and a sticker.

These are the Frontline Avatar, Battlefield Border, and Green Star Medal respectively.

There’s really not much to say about them to be honest as they don’t actually do anything; they’ll just make your profile look a bit snazzy if you care about appearances.

The little army man is very cute though, and it reminded me of the old Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes game from back in the day, the one for the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation.

It’s also an animated avatar if that sweetens the deal at all, meaning he’ll move around when you’re displaying him.

For those after something a little more substantial from Steam, there are other benefits to Wargames Fest; there are heavy discounts on tons of games within the genre with many developers also releasing limited-time free demos specifically for the event.

If you’re looking for some real freebies though, check out the Epic Games Store, as it tends to offer better free titles, on the whole, including a free Star Wars game to celebrate Star Wars Day.

In the meantime though, grab those display freebies if you like them, and even if you don’t, grab them anyway - there’s no harm in it.
