Steam drops 3 free downloads you've 24 hours to nab

You're running out of time

I hope you’ve been making the most out of Steam’s Real-Time Strategy Fest.

If you haven’t, hurry! You’re running out of time.

The event finally draws to a close tomorrow, 27 January at 10am PT, which means you have just 24 hours left to enjoy what’s on offer.

The Real-Time Strategy Fest is where you’ll find some incredible details on various RTS titles, with many games also offering demos during the event so you can sample a decent breadth of the genre.

Want a couple of demo recommendations?

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is set amidst Japan’s Edo period where a new Shogun has seized power over the country. Play as a deadly group of rebels, infiltrating castles, monasteries, and camps.

If the cosy corner of the RTS genre is more your speed, Settlements Rising simply allows you to build and manage an expanding medieval colony.

For those who seek adventure, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew will see you join a ghost ship as you race the Inquisition to find the treasure of the legendary Captain Mordechai.

But I digress because while I recommend those three free demos, they’re not the freebies I’m actually here to highlight today.

RTS fans have Civilization VII to look forward to this year.

You can currently nab three free Real-Time Strategy Fest themed goodies from Steam’s The Points Shop, all of which can be used to personalise your profile.

There’s the ‘RTS Tank’ animated avatar, as well as two frames on offer.

Pick from the ‘Green Hex’ frame and the ‘Orange Hex’ frame, both of which - I will say - are nicely usable even if you couldn’t give two-hoots about this event.

As I’ve proven above though, there are plenty of reasons to get involved with the Real-Time Strategy Fest, with many fantastic titles on offer or available to sample.

In fact, it’s via events like this that I foray into genres I’m perhaps less familiar with.

As for the Points Shop items, make sure you nab those in the next 24 hours.
