Steam drops 13 free games, yours to keep for all time

Thirteen free games can be yours on Steam by doing absolutely nothing. All you gotta do is hit redeem, and they’re yours to keep forever.

As always, big thank you to the Twitter account Free Steam Games. These articles genuinely wouldn’t be possible if they didn’t collate all of this info!

I’m going to list these from worst to best, or at the very least from what I can tell at a glance, so feel free to scroll further to the end if you trust me that much.

Ok, quick fire round, here are the ones I’d suggest you don’t bother with entirely.

Internet Fisherman is apparently a barebones idler game designed just to give you inventory awards.

Dysterra looks cool, but the negative reviews should speak for themselves. Apparently, you basically have to pay money to play it anyway, so its “free” status is exaggerated.

Deeper Underground, unfortunately, just looks a little too barebones to recommend in any way. Feels bad to dump on this one too much though, as the dev is clearly trying.

Alright, now into “passable” territory.

Aliya's Awakening: DOGE 2042 is a detective game from developer and publisher Digital Strategies and… look, I just can’t put a game where the art is entirely AI-generated high up. Give it a look for yourself if that doesn’t bother you.

The Easter Bunny Game is developed and published by FunLittleGames LTD. It looks like Bomberman, except you control rabbits instead of... whatever the things in Bomberman are. Fun for an evening, perhaps.

Vampire Master is developed and published by Game Hollywood Games. At a glance, it looks decent as a clicker/idler game, but the reviews say it's a half-effort port of a mobile title.

Green Thing From The Planet Jupiter is a 3D multiplayer platformer developed by Slugworks Interactive and published by Invisible Seams Studios. Don’t let first impressions fool you, because the reviews are quite positive on this one.

Zombie Pandemia 2D is a top-down shooter from developer and publisher SpaceGhostTriFF, and while it doesn’t look like much, I’m giving the benefit of the doubt here. It could be half fun, based on the gameplay trailer.

Phew. Right. Now we’re properly into the good-looking ones.

Biodacity The Mansion is a first-person horror shooter from FreshedPotato, and honestly I like the effort here. It might not look pretty, but the dev clearly cared. I’m gonna try this one.

Abashed is an adventure exploration game by publisher and dev Supantha Paul, and I think this one looks great. It's only not higher up because it's just a demo, but the full release will be with us in the next few months.

Novice in the world is a turn-based RPG from developer and publisher cainiaochuangjianghu (no, I did not just mash my face against the keyboard), and the reviews are very good on this one. I’d put it higher, but apparently the monetisation stuff is a bit steep.

Project: ICARUS is a time management sci-fi sim from publisher Broken Paternoster Games. I think this looks SO interesting.

You're basically running around a ship and dodging weird hazards while you try to disable the things that are killing you. Super cool idea, and I’ll be trying this one myself.

Finally, but certainly not last, Somniphobia. This one is third-person shooter rougelike from developer [Ad Space Reserved] and publisher DigiPen Institute of Technology.

If you've ever read one of these articles from me before, you'd know I absolutely rave about DigiPen every time. They upload their student's projects on Steam, and I don't think I've ever seen them miss. Somniphobia looks to be no different. Incredibly cool vibes, the gameplay loop sounds fun, and I just trust the teachers at DigiPen. Huge recommend.
