Steam quietly drops a bunch of gorgeous free games, yours forever

Four free games can currently be yours to download and keep forever on Steam, and I think at least a couple of these are more than worth your time.

As always, thank you in advance to the Twitter account Free Steam Games for their tireless effort to collate any and all free games on the platform.

Alright, same as always, I’m going to do these from what I believe (at a glance) are the worst (for lack of a better word) to the best, so feel free to scroll right to the last two if you really, really trust my opinion.

First up, Jaro TCG. This one is a card game from developers Devour Labs and publisher Santiago Peniza Amoros, and it looks fine.

I’ll be honest with you, there’s only one reason this game is at the top of this list, and it’s not a particularly fair one. Jaro TCG seems to only be available in Spanish for the time being, and it’s kind of hard for me to judge a TCG’s quality if I can’t read the cards.

That’s not the game or the developer’s fault, however, so consider this entry more of a neutral placement than a negative one.

Next up, Reaper's Isle from developer and publisher Triple Cat Games. I think this one looks alright, but the user reviews paint a different picture.

It seems most of the negative reviews take issue with the lack of tutorials, the pacing, and the voice acting. It might be worth checking back in on it in a month or two, once the developer can iron out some issues.

Alright, here’s a potential banger: Witch Hazel by developer Garden Gnome Games and publisher DigiPen Institute of Technology.

DigiPen Institute specifically publishes games that are student-developed projects, and honestly the teachers at that place aren’t getting paid enough. I think every student project I’ve seen them publish has been an absolute heater, and Witch Hazel looks to be no different.

It’s a short, sweet and very pretty-looking farming sim. I’ll be giving this one a go, so I suggest you do too.

Lunacid - Tears of the Moon is the final entry on this list, and there’s a good reason for that.

Developed and published by FromSofwa-- oh, sorry, never mind, it says a studio called KIRA LLC made this one.

Jokes aside, this one is wearing its King’s Field influences on its sleeve. There’s even a Moonlight Greatsword, so you know it’s legit. The user reviews are super positive on this one, and I kinda can’t believe they’re not charging for it. I’ve already got it downloading as I type.

And that’s the whole list! Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll have even more by this time tomorrow, so check back ASAP if you need even more freebies.
