Dark Souls collides with Skyrim in brutal new RPG

The speed at which I wishlisted this proves faster-than-light travel is now possible

A brand new upcoming game that looks like a mix between Dark Souls and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim just got its first trailer, and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever wishlisted a game faster.

Ad Mortem is a medieval RPG from first-time developer and publisher Head On Studios, and I need to play this game right now. I am on the verge of tracking down Head On Studios' offices and begging them for a code, because good lord, this game looks incredible.

Imagine you could take The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s first-person gameplay and slap it into Dark Souls’ setting, and you’re already most of the way there.

Just have a gander at the gameplay trailer for Ad Mortem if you don’t believe me. Bro is doing sword spinning tricks before he decapitates someone. How is that not the coolest goddamn thing you’ve ever seen?

Alright, wait, let me chill out for a second. So, what’s the actual gameplay loop of Ad Mortem? Well, according to the Steam description, you chop fellas up with your mates.

“Ad Mortem is a brutal multiplayer medieval Melee Slasher set in the corrupted world of Contrara. You play as a Vessel, a byproduct of the death of the Old Gods. Your hollow soul prevents your passage into the afterlife, binding you to this world,” reads its description on Steam.

“Through this eternal struggle, you will engage in team-based PvP combat against other Vessels… Fight with your allies, slay monsters and men, and delve into the dungeons of the Deities in a mad quest of retribution and power.”

Alright, don’t freak out: I know it says “team-based PvP” a bunch BUT… it does sound like there’s a single player mode if you scroll down a little further. Phew.

No release date in sight for this one yet, but I will let you know as soon as there is one. My eyes are locked on this Steam page like a hawk.
