This upcoming Steam RPG blends the tough-as-nails combat of Elden Ring with the RPG gameplay of Skyrim, and you can try it for free right now.

Elden Ring’s first DLC expansion, Shadow Of The Erdtree, is expected to drop sometime this year, and The Elder Scrolls VI is years away from releasing, so in the meantime why not give Dungeonborne a go, which you can play for free right now on Steam.

Simply put, Dungeonborne is an “immersive first-person PvPvE dungeon crawler,” where players can traverse and explore a grim underground labyrinth filled with treasure and monsters. You can play it alone, or you can play it with friends, and there’s even a PvP mode for those who want to test their might.

It’s planned for release sometime in the future, though the game’s developer is yet to provide a release window. That doesn’t mean it’s far from grasp though, as a free early-access demo is available now via the game’s Steam page.

It’ll give you a taste of what the dungeons have to offer, and allow you to experiment with the game’s fantastic assortment of weapons and magic. You could go for your average FromSoftware strength build and mow down enemies with a big sword or axe, or alternatively you could give the game’s extensive magic system a go to roleplay Gandalf from Lord Of The Rings.

There are several classes to choose from, and plenty of upgrades to unlock as you wander the dungeon corridors. If you die though, you’ll lose everything you’ve found up to that point and get sent back to the beginning, so try to avoid that if you can.

It’s well worth checking out, especially if you’re a fan of Skyrim or other mediaeval RPG games. If you try Dungeonborne for free and enjoy it you can then add it to your wishlist for updates on the full release.
