Free Steam Game Gets Major Expansion At No Additional Cost, a Perfect End To Your Week

Free stuff for free stuff!

This very well received free Steam game just got some brand new content which, surprisingly, is also free. Free stuff for free stuff, you love to see it.

There’s an unquantifiably large amount of free games on Steam. I mean, someone could probably quantify it at some point, but said figure would almost assuredly be out of date by the time they’d do so.

The issue is… most of them aren’t very good. I know we shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, but nobody has unlimited free time.

That’s where Steam reviews come in very, very handy, because thousands of gamers are willing to sacrifice their free time in an attempt to discern the good from the bad, and they found a verified banger back in May.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun - Words of Vengeance, developed by and published by Auroch Digital, is (as the name probably already implies) a free spin-off for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun.

However, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun - Words of Vengeance is pretty much as far away from the original game as feasibly possible, because this isn’t a first-person boomer shooter– it’s a typing game.

If you’ve played Typing of the Dead, then you know exactly what you’re in for here: type words quick, so you can kill enemies before they overwhelm you. It is, surprisingly, a lot more fun than I’m probably making it sound.

However, if you don't trust me, you can trust the overwhelming consensus on Steam. With over 1,700 reviews, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun - Words of Vengeance has earned itself a "Very Positive" score on the platform, with roughly 86% of the reviews being positive.

In fact, one of the only real complaints that reviewers have is that it’s far, far too short, with only three levels to play from. Honestly, is there any greater compliment than fans wishing a game was longer?

I’ve got some great news for those folks though, as the devs just announced that three new levels (bringing the total amount up to six) are now available, for no extra cost. Plus, they’ve even teased a couple of new features, and a new boss fight for you to sink your teeth into.

As the devs explain in the post, the decision to add more levels stems from how popular the game has been so far, so there’s always a chance that additional free levels might make their way to the game down the line. Of course, if you do find yourself wanting more, you could dish out the £18.99 required to get your hands on the similarly well-reviewed Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun afterwards (and support the devs for being so generous).
