One of the cutest games we’ve ever seen on Steam is free to try before it launches this June, don’t sleep on it.

There are enough cosy games to make the world go round but out of the hundreds or thousands of options, only a few are truly exceptional.

The one we’re talking about today has all the makings of a 2026 masterpiece, and those interested in giving it a go can do so now.

A Tale Of Nature And Friendship

You may remember Deer & Boy from a couple of video game showcase events in the past, as it’s done the rounds.

Gamers have picked up on it for good reason, as it looks frankly adorable, following a boy and a fawn who both find themselves alone in the world.

Its Steam description refers to it as a “poetic cinematic platformer,” and we certainly get that vibe.

The pair go on an emotional journey together where they’ll strengthen the bond they share, but it’s more than just a simple walking-sim. Both characters have their fair share of functionality, which they’ll use to overcome the obstacles ahead.

What strikes us most about the game so far is the lack of dialogue, which was an intentional decision from the developers so that the character’s actions spoke louder than their words. Besides, a baby deer can’t talk, so it’d just be the boy talking to himself, which could get rather annoying.

Those with a keen eye for detail will love this game for its art style, as the whole has been painstakingly crafted to look absolutely gorgeous.

As for a release date, Deer & Boy is confirmed to be dropping sometime in June, though an exact date hasn’t been shared just yet.

In the meantime, a free demo is available on Steam now, which will take you through the game’s opening and ultimately help you decide if this cosy adventure is right for you.

While you’ll find the game on Steam, it’ll also be coming to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch 2, so console players won’t be left out.

If you like the look of the game, we’d also recommend checking out another indie dropping later this year called Out of Words. It’s another silent adventure game about two friends who are in love with each other, but neither dare to confess. All of this changes when the pair lose their ability to speak altogether.

Deer & Boy looks wonderful and we’re excited to play the full release next month, whenever that may be.
