Starfield meets Mass Effect in epic new sci-fi sandbox game

The developers also seem to have thrown in a little No Man's Sky inspiration too, for good measure

If Mass Effect and Starfield had a baby, it’d probably be like Starfield again (except the story would actually be good this time around).

But if they had a second, somewhat lower-budget baby, it’d probably look a little something like like For The Stars.

Check out the Starfield: Shattered Space expansion below!

Snail Games, the publisher behind ARK: Survival Evolved, are the ones currently developing the new title that they’ve only recently begun showing off to the public.

The team behind the game just released a developer Q&A video for the game that also serves as an announcement of sorts for it, although as of now they only have some pre-rendered footage and some concept art to show off.

The description for the upcoming game “invites” players “to explore and settle a vast universe of diverse planets, each with its own unique wonders and mysteries to uncover. Conquer the challenges of hostile biomes, forge alliances, and build a legacy that spans the galaxy.”

For what it’s worth though, what they’ve got so far does look pretty… if somewhat ambitious.

If you’re already feeling keen in spite of that however, you’re in luck! A Steam page for the game just went live as well, so feel free to wishlist it to your heart's content.

Also, as much as the Mass Effect and Starfield comparisons are apt, I’m also picking up some No Man’s Sky vibes from the Q&A trailer.

That’s probably not unintentional on the part of the developers either, as For The Stars is apparently going to be more of a survival crafter, akin to their other hit game ARK: Survival Evolved.

For The Stars is currently set to launch on PCs, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, although no release date has been announced.

Given that they only have a dev Q&A video and a teaser trailer to show off, it’s safe to assume we’ll be waiting a while for this one.
