Rockstar Games announced plans for a Grand Theft Auto VI trailer yesterday, which is set to drop sometime in December and finally give us a first look at one of the most important games of all time.

While newer games have had their graphical fidelity bolstered by new-gen platforms like the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, Rockstar will still have a lot of work to do if they want GTA VI to exceed Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of visual quality.

Whether it planned to or not, Rockstar set the bar incredibly high with the second Red Dead Redemption game, which is still highly rated as one of the greatest games ever made, and a rare example of an open world done right. It boasts stunning graphics, indescribably amounts of detail, and some truly picturesque views.

However, all of that can be made 10 times better thanks to mods, one of which has the game running at 8K and dynamic weather, all using the power of an RTX4090, and it’s stunning.

Shared on YouTube by BeyonD RealisM, the graphical showcase is almost indistinguishable from the real world, with the most impressive part undoubtedly being the sky which lights up in the perfect way during a thunderstorm.

Fans were absolutely blown away, with some describing the visual quality as “beyond realism.”

One said: “This is the best graphics mod ever for Red Dead Redemption 2!!!”

Another added: “Wow… it's beyond impressive… I have no words, man.. keep up the good work.”

Finally one said: “Very different looking mod compared to others. Eye-pleasing graphics wow.”

If Grand Theft Auto VI comes anywhere close to this kind of visual quality, it might just be one of the most realistic-looking games of all time. If it isn’t, at least we know it’ll be in good hands once modders get hold of it on PC.
