It has not been an easy few weeks for The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, or Nintendo after a massive leak saw details of upcoming games unofficially shown.

Well, it seems to be getting worse for them as artwork for next year’s Pokémon World Championships has spoiled who the starters will be for the next instalment in the franchise, Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

When GAMINGbible got to the Pokémon World Championships we got to meet some amazing players

Over on Twitter/X CentroLeaks showed off the promo art for the event which clearly shows Chespin, Froakie, and Fennekin.

The validity of this claim, that they’re the starter Pokémon for the game, is cemented by the fact that at each World Championship, the start Pokémon of the most recent game are used in art across the event.

This happened with the 2023 World Championship in Japan, that year featuring Sprigatito, Quaxley, and Fuecoco, who all appeared in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, released that year.

Backing this up, we already know that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will take place in the capital city of the Kalos region from generation six, and Pokémon X and Y, where these starters first appeared.

It may be a little disappointing to hear given that Pokémon Legends: Arceus featured different Pokémon across three series generations.

However, the new title is set to feature Mega Evolutions which could mean we’ll get new forms of these classic Pokémon, giving them a fresh new look, along with new abilities.

Of course, nothing is official until Game Freak and Nintendo say so, perhaps this could change given the leak will likely push back production a little while the company scrambles.

It’s likely we’ll hear much more on the next Pokémon title where the starters are usually announced.

The starters from Pokémon X and Y don’t often get the praise they perhaps deserve as we thought when we ranked all the starting Pokémon recently, but hopefully, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will give them a new lease of life.
