The PlayStation library has expanded, as the PS5 finally gets an Xbox game exclusive to the console for over a year.

Everything is more fun when it’s shared, and video games are no exception. Having games available across multiple platforms means more people can enjoy the same games.

But it’s understandable why exclusivity deals are sometimes implemented. They mean the developers get a little bit of extra funding to help complete the game in return for making the game exclusive to one platform for a set amount of time.

Still, there are lots of games out there that fans would love to see on their favourite console, but are currently locked into an exclusivity deal.

Now, one game has been freed from Xbox exclusivity and has finally seen the light of day on PS5.

Similarly, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will launch on PS5 at a later date after a period of Xbox exclusivity.

The game is Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. It’s a first-person action game from Fatshark, the developers of Vermintide, and uses a similar concept.

In Darktide, you and three other players play in cooperative gameplay to defeat waves of enemies. If you’ve played games like Killing Floor or Left 4 Dead, it’s pretty similar to that.

As a result of being developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Darktide faced some difficulties during development. This included a release date delay from 2021 to 2022 when it finally launched on PC.

After launch, Fatshark had to pause development on new content to improve some of the base functions of the game such as performance, progression, and the class system. This got it into tip-top shape with the Xbox release in 2023.

Now, Darktide is available on PS5 after a long period of exclusivity on Windows PC and Xbox.

The Standard Edition of the game is available to purchase on the PlayStation Store from £32.99 / $39.99 and comes with all content released so far on other platforms.

On the other hand, an Imperial Edition is also available for £49.99 / $59.99 which includes the base game and some additional pieces of DLC.
