Uncharted fans may finally have some hope that something new is on the way following a recent tease.

You’d be forgiven if you thought that Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series is no more. After all, it’s been nearly a whole decade since we’ve had a brand new game starring our beloved PlayStation icon, Nathan Drake.

Not taking into account remasters and spin-offs, the last new game in the series is Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on the PlayStation 4 in 2016, and if you ask me, that’s way too long a time.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore The Last of Us, and I can’t wait for Naughty Dog’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. However, I think many Uncharted fans can't help but feel that the franchise has been neglected.

As for what we know for sure that Naughty Dog is cooking up, it’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. At best, we’ve had some hints that The Last of Us Part III is in the works, but nothing concrete.

That being said, a recent interview has given some fans hope that Uncharted may not have been neglected by Naughty Dog after all, as teased by Neil Druckmann.

When speaking to Variety, Druckmann discussed the future of The Last of Us, as well as the upcoming Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet, and also mentioned the long-awaited Uncharted.

“There’s more stuff happening in The Last of Us world that has not been announced,” said Neil Druckmann.

“There’s just ongoing conversations around #Uncharted, #TheLastOfUs and now #Intergalactic, as far as different adaptations or expansions.”

When teasing that something is in the works for The Last of Us (not mentioning whether it's the game or TV series), Druckmann also suggested conversations are taking place related to Uncharted. Again, it’s unclear whether he is referring to a game or a movie.

Regardless, while this small tease gives fans only a glimmer of hope, it’s at least nice to know that Uncharted is still on the minds of Naughty Dog, in whatever capacity that may be.

We’ll just have to be patient to see how this story unfolds in the coming months, and when we learn more, we’ll be sure to update you ASAP.

If you're desperate to fill that Nathan Drake void, you can play remasters of the original trilogy with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, playable on PS5 and PS4.

What’s more, remastered versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy are available on PC and PlayStation 5 courtesy of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.

Hopefully, they should all help keep us busy until Naughty Dog treats us to some new Uncharted goodness. Fingers crossed that happens sooner rather than later.
