The PlayStation 5 Pro is now available worldwide, alongside a number of free game upgrades.

One such upgrade is for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II Remastered, with the game’s PS5 Pro overhaul one of the first to be confirmed.

The free update actually arrived some time ago so that players could pre-install it, ready to dive in on the console’s release date.

That day has now come and gone which means, yes, the update has finally been enabled.

Those diving into The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PS5 Pro can experience the game’s new bells and whistles.

And I should add that The Last of Us Part I is very much in the same boat, so I’d say you may as well play through both titles as you put Sony’s latest hardware to the test.

As for what The Last of Us Part II Remastered’s update entails exactly, well, I have the patch notes.

The Last of Us returns on HBO for a new season in 2025. Take a look at the show’s trailer below.

The updated version will take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).

A new Pro mode will render at 1440p, while PSSR should upscale the output to 4K, maintaining a target of 60fps.

Performance and Fidelity rendering modes remain available, providing a smoother experience and higher frame rates compared to the base PS5.

A number of general issues have also been addressed for all players, regardless of your console.

The update has fixed issues where some trophies would not unlock after importing PS4 save data, where Abby’s torso could disappear when switching between her bonus skins, and where Dina could be grabbed an additional time while escaping in the subway.

Several fixes were also applied to No Return where some kill types were not being applied to player stats.

For audio, an issue was fixed where music tracks would not progress as intended when speedrunning.

Additional support was added for the accessibility settings, so more PS5 accessibility settings were reflected in-game, plus tweaks have been made to localisation across various languages.

As I said, the update is out now.
