Steam users will surely have a lengthy backlog of games to get through before the end of the year and the fantastic deals you see in the sales aren’t helping with that.

With that in mind it’s a good thing Steam offers so many freebies at least you won’t feel too bad about not playing them should your personal life just not allow for it.

Below you’ll find four of these games, a little bit about them, and why they’re worth adding to your growing library,

First we have Seconda: A Post-Apocalyptic Tale, a game about surviving a post-apocalyptic Italy which has been overrun by horrifying creatures.

It’s not World War Z so don’t expect to fend off overwhelming hordes of monsters, it’s more like an old-school RPG than anything else.

The gameplay footage for this implies the game’s not in English, but maybe there’s a localisation. It’s free at the end of the day so no harm if you download it and can’t change the language.

Going second is Around - The Game, one that particularly caught my eye as I love the aesthetic of it.

Around- The Game-
Story Czar

This game sees players enter a haunted mansion filled with nightmares, and you need to solve puzzles in order to escape.

It’s very Resident Evil-coded but the line that stood out the most to me when pursuing its description was “offer cherries to speak with the Fiend.” I don’t know what that means but boy am I intrigued.

The Witch's fabulous Cracker Show is up next and this is a bizarre one to say the least.

It’s about a boy called Cracker who acts as a witch’s assistant, with witches being all the rage nowadays thanks to Wicked…

The witch wants to make a splendid cake but needs ingredients so Cracker must venture out and retrieve those ingredients whilst avoiding “hungry children.”

There’s some light-puzzle solving to be done and several characters to interact with, so check it out if you’re curious.

Last but not least we have Melodic Mage, a rhythm-based shooter. Now I adore any game that’s rhythm-based and this game gives me serious Crypt Of The NecroDancer vibes, so I’m already all-in.

Its description says you’ll be “casting spells and dodging to the beat” as you fight through its levels and tackle challenging bosses.

The artstyle isn’t blowing me away at first glance but as long as the gameplay is solid this looks like a good time.

So there you have it, all four of the above games are ready and waiting to be downloaded on Steam, as long as your backlog can support them of course.
