Star Wars fans can play the latest free game coming to PlayStation Plus, which can save you up to $70.
Since its inception in 1977 with Star Wars: A New Hope, the adventures taking place in a galaxy far, far away have been one of the most popular tales in all of entertainment, and are still going strong to this day. However, it has not always been perfect, with the failure of The Acolyte being a recent example.
That being said, for the most part, when it comes to its video game offerings, we’ve had some absolute bangers, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II, to name a few.
In 2024, Ubisoft released Star Wars Outlaws, a game set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It's an open-world/galaxy game with a story which centres around a young scoundrel on the run, named Kay Vess. It’s a fun action game that does well to harness the essence of the Star Wars franchise.
However, at launch, Star Wars Outlaws wasn't as good as it is now. It was plagued with bugs, not to mention that many gamers felt it was missing core gameplay features, such as a competent stealth system, for missions that required your best Sam Fisher skills.

While some may feel it’s too little too late, to be fair to the developers at Ubisoft Montreal, they worked hard to correct all the wrongs of Star Wars Outlaws, to make it an even better game than originally intended. Which is probably why it’s a great new addition to PS Plus, because it gets a second chance of winning gamers over.

“Nice. I wanted to play Star Wars Outlaws,” said ShiraKiryuu.
“I was just thinking of buying Star Wars Outlaws,” revealed Hasanman6.
“After all the polish for Star Wars Outlaws…it’s safe to say I’ve waited long enough for the hopes of it coming to PS Plus,” declared HDTokyo.
“Star Wars Outlaws is one of the most underrated games ever made. The gameplay balances stealth, platforming and shoot 'em up,” explained The_DudeSweet. “The main character, Kay Vess, is very likeable and her pet, Nix, is badass. They work together to overcome any situation. It's also one of the best-looking games, and on the Pro, it's absolutely breathtaking.”
If you do subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, but were put off by Star Wars Outlaws at launch, perhaps this would be a perfect time to revisit it or play it for the first time.
The latest PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games for May 2026 will be available on Tuesday, 19 May.
If you find Star Wars Outlaws is not for you, it could save you wasting £60/$70 instead of buying the full game. Saying that, it’s also often discounted in sales, too.
Star Wars Outlaws is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
