May is certainly delivering the goods, with 007 First Light, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and Forza Horizon 6 set to be ours by the time the month is out.
They’re far from the month’s only stellar releases with Directive 8020 and Mixtape having already impressed.
Two of the month’s new games that you may not have heard of are The Curse 404 and Into The Slimy Mines, but here I am to change that.
That’s because these two new indie releases have launched free demos on the PlayStation Store, and you don’t need PlayStation Plus to try them out.
Into The Slimy Mines is a roguelike tower-defence game from Ant Workshop that’s set to land on 29 May, with the demo offering a taste of what to expect in the full release.

Players step into the shoes of an employee of Ironkilt Intergalactic Industries who crash-lands on a slime-infested moon.
You’ll need to rescue your crew and mine enough ore for your employer before you’re kicked off the job.
The game uses a card-based mechanic, so players will be able to unearth new cards throughout the experience that unlock new combos to help you out in your mining endeavours.
There are 30 dig zones situated across six unique biomes - and each dig site features five depth levels which reflect the difficulty scale of that particular level.

“Drag Dig cards to excavate new tunnels toward your missing crewmates. But be warned, these paths are also your enemy's path! Eek,” devs tease.
You can play as one of three guilds - anvil, warhammer, or pickaxe - which will influence the equipment you start with.
An impressive 53% of players have awarded the demo a score of five stars which is pretty impressive.
Naturally, the game hasn’t proven a hit with everyone with the overall demo score sitting at a respectable 3.84, correct at the time of writing.
The second title you can dive into is The Curse 404, a horror puzzle game from Yash Future Tech Solutions.
This is arguably the less desirable of the two options, with the full release of The Curse 404 having been available since 1 May.
The game does have a slight P.T. vibe and revolves around players navigating a haunted house whilst trapped in a time loop.

You’ll need to find enough clues to escape, with your knowledge of those clues remaining every time to loop resets, so you can constantly build on your knowledge.
There are code, number, musical, pathfinding, electrical and jigsaw-based puzzles to overcome, plus you’ll need to stealthily avoid foes.
The demo permits you access to multiple areas of the house, several puzzles, and the first stealth encounter.
At the time of writing, 41% of players awarded a perfect score of five stars but the overall score sits at precisely three.
Neither of these demos will cost you a penny though, so there’s no harm in giving them a try.
