Say what you want about digital collectibles - no, seriously, say it, I’m listening, I’m in your walls - but they do have their appeal.

Sure, you can’t whip them out and display them in real life, but they’re a memento of a moment in time when you accomplished something on your PlayStation, or some such thing.

They’re kind of like a participation trophy, and given out when you really didn’t do all that much, but you’re thanked for being a part of it, even if you came in last place and became the disappointment of your family.

This is all a wordy preamble to say that Sony is giving out a free digital collectible to celebrate the summer, and all you need to do to snag it is play some game trials or demos.

There are several games you can try: Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Civilization VII, SONIC X SHADOW GENRATIONS, Undisputed, Shogun Showdown, or The First Berzerker: Khazan.

Navigate your way over to the PSN store and find these trials, download one, give it a spin, and the reward is yours.

Thank you for your participation.

You might find a new favourite game to buy, or you might just spend a couple of hours having fun with something different, something you might not normally try.

Then you’ll get your collectible, it might actually be a trophy. A digital one, of course, and nothing that will finally make your family say they’re proud of you, or bring your dad back into your life - he said he was going out for milk!

Ahem, so, you don’t need PlayStation Plus for this one, and it's probably one of the last PlayStation Stars campaigns we'll get because that is being discontinued, for some reason.

You’ve got well over a month to get on this offer, just don’t forget to play, if you like digital shiny things.
