PlayStation's first PS5/PS6 cross-gen game quietly teased

This is very early confirmation

We might still be a few years away from the PlayStation 6, but discussion about the console has already started popping up online.

While next to nothing is known about the future of the Sony console, we do know that one game will likely bridge the gap between the PlayStation 5 and its follow-up.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth received a 10/10 from us last year

In an interview with 4Gamer, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director, Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the third part in the remake trilogy wouldn’t be a PS6 exclusive.

It stands to reason that the trilogy will be available on the PS5, but with the first part starting on PS4, it’s likely the third entry will appear on the next PlayStation console, too.

In the same interview, it was also mentioned that future titles would come to a “wide range of platforms.”

This means Xbox players may finally get the chance to play through Cloud’s updated adventure.

You can already play Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PC, so it would make sense for others to get the chance to experience the adventure.

The third part of the trilogy has only been in development for a short time, causing many to believe that it would debut on future hardware and leave this generation behind.

It’s great to hear this won’t be the case and that more players will get to finish the story.

With the PlayStation 6 a distant thought for most, Sony could be looking to release the console as soon as 2027, so developers will already be thinking about which platforms their game will support.

Final Fantasy fans should hopefully be able to rest easy and stick with their PS5, for the time being.

As a huge fan of the original game, and the remakes, the third part is riding high on my most anticipated list for the next few years.
