PlayStation Plus Users Hit With 'Unfortunate' Update

I was looking forward to this!

PlayStation Plus users have been hit with an unfortunate update for a game that many have been looking forward to.

Despite the continuous price hikes, there’s a lot of value still to be had with Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service, whether you subscribe to the Essential, Extra or Premium tiers.

Of course, the higher the tier, the more games and bonus perks you’ll have available. For example, with its top-tier PlayStation Plus Premium, not only do you have tons of PS5 and PS4 games, but also retro titles, free movies, cloud streaming and much more.

Earlier this month, Sony announced the titles available this month for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, which included the banger Silent Hill 2 remake. It also included the classic PS1 title, Tekken 3.

The PlayStation classic titles are included with the PS Plus Premium tier, and typically, you’d get more than just one retro delight. Usually, it’s at least two or three. We were seemingly set to also receive the fantastic Tomb Raider: Anniversary this month.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary was released in 2007 on PC, PSP, PS2, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. It’s a remake of the original Tomb Raider game that arrived in 1996.

Being a big fan of the series, this is one of my favourite remakes of all time, and I know I wasn't alone in eagerly awaiting its arrival on PlayStation Plus this month.

As spotted by Reddit user kabirsingh84, on the PlayStation Store, Tomb Raider: Anniversary initially had a release date of 21 October 2025 for PS5 and PS4. Unfortunately, an update on the store revealed a delay, pushing back its release to 18 November 2025. It’s unclear at this time why this emulation was delayed.

Naturally, fans looking forward to playing Tomb Raider: Anniversary courtesy of PlayStation Plus Premium were left feeling disappointed with this unfortunate update.

“That's unfortunate. I guess we'll just have to wait another month then,” replied Flottrooster.

“It’s so weird, there used to be three games every month without fail. Then, starting early 2025, it went to two, sometimes one, and now it’s mostly one. How are Premium subscribers not angry about this?” asked Flint_Vorselon.

“One addition a month for Premium is lousy. They should have added something different if this wasn't ready, or have three next month,” suggested Fickle_Leg7455.

I absolutely agree with the comments made in the thread. I’m disappointed that Tomb Raider: Anniversary has been delayed, and I’m disappointed that we only get one classic game this month.

Hopefully, Sony will make up for the lack of PlayStation Plus classic games in October 2025 next month, but I won't be holding my breath.
