PlayStation Plus free games: subscribers can grab two massive 2023 releases on launch day

PlayStation Plus is including two day-one launch games for their members.

August is lining up to be a busy month of gaming, even more so after PlayStation announced the free games coming to Plus and Extra members this month.

PlayStation Plus revealed that 17 new games would be joining from 15 August 2023, including Moving Out 2 on launch day. Oh yes, PS gamers are going to be able to play a brand new game for a fraction of the price.

If you haven’t experienced the joy of moving furniture around, frustratingly trying to make items fit, then you haven’t lived! Moving Out 2 is the sequel to the original game that came out in 2020; in both games, you play as F.A.R.Ts, otherwise known as Furniture Arrangement and Relocation Technicians.

Of course, while it’s exciting to have a launch day game included with PlayStation Plus, there’s other amazing titles to add to your library, such as Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, and Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition.

Alongside these titles, MediEvil: Resurrection, Ape Escape: On the Loose, and Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice will be added to PlayStation Classics for all Premium members. Considering how poorly the free games for PlayStation Plus Essentials went down, this batch feels like a powerful apology to users. Even more so when you take into account that, altogether, these free games amount to 530 hours of gameplay.

But, as with every good deal, there’s even more to come. PlayStation Extra members will also get access to Lawn Mowing Simulator: Landmark Edition on 28 August, followed by another day-one launch with Sea of Stars on 29 August 2023. A turn-based RPG from Sabotage Studio, this game is one of 2023's hotly anticipated releases, so to have it included is a big deal. Like, a really big deal.

Just in case you’ve missed the important details of this article, that’s two games available on their first day of release for free!

We’re not sure if this will make up for the PlayStation app fooling fans into thinking the Baldur’s Gate 3 release date had changed, but at the very least it’ll soften that blow. The question then becomes which RPG do you play first: Baldur’s Gate 3 or Sea of Stars?

While you ponder that conundrum, don’t forget that the first batch of PlayStation Plus free games will be available from 15 August, followed by two more freebies for PlayStation Extra members on the 28 and 29 August 2023.
