PlayStation Plus Keeps Culling, 12 Free Games Living on Borrowed Time

Play them while you can

PlayStation has revealed 12 games that will be leaving PlayStation Plus this month, giving you only a limited amount of time to play them before they’re gone.

Sony regularly adds multiple games to every tier of PlayStation Plus each month, but that usually also means a batch of games tend to be removed from the service too.

This is usually down to expiring licences, where publishers will enter an agreement to have their games on the service for a certain period of time. This is usually around 12 months, but can sometimes be shorter or longer.

Well, that time has come around again as 12 more games have confirmed to be dropped from the service just before Christmas.

PlayStation Plus Will Lose These Games On 16 December

The following games will leave PlayStation Plus on 16 December, so in just over two weeks:

  • 11-11 Memories Retold (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Battlefield 2042 (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Firefighting Simulator The Squad (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Forspoken (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Grand Theft Auto III (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Sonic Frontiers (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Star Trek: Bridge Crew (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Surviving Mars (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • River City Melee Mach (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet (PlayStation Plus Extra)
  • Arcade Paradise VR (PlayStation Plus Premium / Deluxe)
  • Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge (PlayStation Plus Premium / Deluxe)

Of course, you can continue playing these games after the 16 December cutoff by purchasing them from the PlayStation Store.

Regardless of when you decide to buy them again, your save files should remain safely in the PlayStation Plus Cloud.

In other news, Sony has confirmed another batch of titles coming to PlayStation Plus Essential this month.

From 2 December, users will be able to add LEGO Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality Echo of Ada, and Neon White to their game libraries as part of the monthly offerings.

We also know that Rockstar Games will launch the PS5 upgrade of Red Dead Redemption to PlayStation Plus Extra on the same day, giving you a chance to check that out.

If you’re a big fan of Red Dead Redemption 2 but haven’t been able to play the first one, now’s the perfect time to do so.

Meanwhile, last month’s offerings (Stray, EA Sports WRC 24 and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator) expire today, so be sure to add them to your account soon if you haven’t already.
