A PlayStation 2 classic experience has PlayStation Plus players falling in love with it as the service proves that while it still has its issues, it delivers some iconic gems from time to time.

Even though criticism of PlayStation Plus still persists, the dark days from earlier in the year – when fans spoke of boycotting the service – seem to be behind us.

Arguably, the influx of popular titles has helped smooth relations between players and publisher.

One free game on PS Plus is being hailed as the “best” the subscription has to offer; however, there are other experiences that could easily steal that crown.

Since joining PS Plus, the TimeSplitters franchise has delighted both new and returning fans.

Redditor Ok-Roof-794 has enjoyed their first time with the PS2 title so much that they took to Reddit to share their experience thus far.

“What a game! I mean one moment I’m playing a really solid FPS then I accidentally press triangle on the gadget and I’m playing this suped up version of Snake,” they said.

“All the weird quirks, production value and even just the general feel of the game takes you back to the more innocent and fun, golden PS2 era of gaming,” they added, “For me, PS Plus’ best USP is the hidden gems you wouldn’t have played, and this is another case in point.”

An outpouring of love for the series quickly followed.

Fellow gamer Alpacarok said, “I’ve been playing them as well and they are really fun. Just drop in and play without any pretence which is super rare these days.”

As if the original three titles being available isn’t already a cause for celebration, the games have now received trophy support.

In the words of the OP, “they really don’t make ‘em like this anymore”.

If you want to fall in love with a classic franchise, your PS Plus membership is the way to help make that happen.

For those without PS Plus membership, there are six new free downloads you can explore without the need for a monthly subscription.

Although PS Plus has some banging titles, there are fun experiences to be found outside of its service as well.
