PlayStation Plus confirms four free games in October 2026 line-up reveal

PlayStation Plus has confirmed its next batch of free games, with four games set to become available for all users via the essential tier in October.

Before we dive into October’s line-up, that means you have just one week left to claim Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes.

Remember, all games claimed on the essential tier are yours to enjoy for as long as you maintain a PlayStation Plus membership, so it’s worth claiming everything as you never know what you’re going to want to play further down the line.

From Tuesday 6 October, you’ll then also be able to enjoy F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, and Hello Neighbor.

It’s another middle-ground line-up for the subscription service. It’s nice to see a major AAA headliner in F1 25 but, of course, it’s only going to be of interest to those who like racing and sports games.

“Leave your mark on the world of racing in F1 25, the official video game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship,” the synopsis teases.

“Enjoy single player experiences such as Career and My Team 2.0, letting you create your own F1 stories as you take control as the Owner of a Formula 1 team.

“Then take the race online against other players, including a brand new multiplayer mode in F1 World, where you and your friends race as a squad against AI drivers.”

Personally, it’s Hunt: Showdown 1896 that I’m most excited to try as it’s one I’ve never picked up.

Developed by Crytek, this is what you might end up with if you transformed Red Dead Redemption 2 into an extraction shooter.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 can be enjoyed solo or alongside friends. You’ll need to face off against both twisted monsters and fellow hunters as you pursue a coveted bounty.

Each run will see you track down bosses, claim their goods, and fight your way through to an extraction point before your competition does.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is a light-hearted third-person shooter with a Minecraft-esque voxel aesthetic.

You’ll create a team of four, selecting equipment that suits your playstyle before venturing out into a ravaged planet which needs saving from alien enemies.

This one supports online co-op and two-player local split screen.

“In addition to soldiers from the mainline EDF series, this game also includes soldiers from the EDF spin-offs, and enemies who ravaged the planet in previous releases have also crossed over into this world to join the fight,” reads the synopsis.

“Enjoy fighting numerous enemies, including redesigned voxel versions of old favorites, as well as new enemies unique to this release.”

Strangely, PlayStation UK is also advertising the inclusion of Hello Neighbor, the hit cozy stealth horror, on social media while the main PlayStation Blog is not. We’ll bring an update if this title was announced in error.

Again, all of these games will be available to enjoy from October 6 with the extra and premium tier update due in mid October.
