PlayStation Plus New Freebie Is a Hit: 'I Definitely Recommend It'

"It’s one of the best platformers I’ve played in years"

One of PlayStation Plus’ latest offerings is already making waves, with some stating that it’s “one of the best platformers” they’ve played in recent memory.

Sony’s latest PlayStation Plus lineup announcement was a bit of a mixed bag, but not for the usual reasons.

Every time the new PS Plus Monthly Games reveal rolls around, it’s pretty fair to say that there’s always at least one rubbish game on offer. Back in June, it was NBA 2K25 (sorry basketball lovers) and last month it was definitely My Hero One’s Justice 2 (which I know sucks from personal experience).

However, in an uncharacteristic move from Sony, September’s PlayStation Plus Monthly Games are all bangers. Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, Viewfinder– all three are heaters. The issue this month is that most people seem to already own the majority of the games on the list.

However, one particular game is earning a lot of praise regardless, with fans over on the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit urging fellow subscribers to give it a go (if they somehow haven’t gotten around to it yet).

I'm of course not referring to Stardew Valley, because I'm pretty sure every single person in the world has played that one already. Nope, instead, fans want to make sure everyone gives Psychonauts 2 a go (and for good reason).

“This game is a masterpiece”, commented user Interesting-Touch916.

“It feels like a modern PS2 game in a good way”, replied user Dragonkingcc.

“It’s fun, unpredictable and keeps me wondering what comes next. It’s one of the best platformers I’ve played in years. I definitely recommend it”, writes thread author Delicious_Maize9656.

Considering this one is more than four years old at this point, I’m not sure what else I could say that the glowing review scores Psychonauts 2 received at launch haven’t said already.

Just make sure you give the original game a try first, because it’s still a banger– even 20 years after its release.
