PlayStation Plus gamers divided over new open-world RPG

It’s a magical game (literally)

PlayStation Plus gamers have been discussing a highly popular open-world action RPG, and it’s fair to say that opinions are divided.

Depending on the subscription tier, there can be hundreds of games to choose with Sony’s PlayStation Plus from first-party greats like God of War Ragnarök to indie darlings such as Blue Prince or third-party delights which reflects the game that is the topic of today’s discussion.

The open-world action RPG in question is the 2023 release Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games. Hogwarts Legacy is a dream game for Wizarding World fans, but not everyone has been won over.

“Is anyone else playing and loving this game for the first time thanks to it being added to PlayStation Plus?” asked Redditor Believe0017. “I’m not a Harry Potter fan, I’ve never read the books, and I thought the movies were ok, I’ve passively watched them as my sister likes them.”

“I didn’t expect to enjoy this game as much as I am. The world is incredibly magical, gameplay is fun, and the graphics are gorgeous,” they continued. “This is one example of discovering a great game that I would have never played if not for PS Plus.”

“It's good and all, but it does feel painfully half-baked in some areas. Mainly prior established lore like Unforgivable Curses, but in the universe with this game, it's no different than a Lumos spell that's providing light, even though Avada Kedavra is literal death from your wand,” replied Desperate_Rice_6413.

“I did not expect to like it as much as I do either. The gameplay is just okay, but it really captures that Harry Potter magic that has been missing since the original series of books and movies,” said Possible-Row6689.

“It's an amazing game for the first 20 hours. After that, it's the same old same,” exclaimed leobutters.

“I loved the game so much. As did my wife. I even managed to play it to the end. It’s a very enjoyable experience,” said the joyful RubberDuckyRapidsBro.

You can't please everybody; Hogwarts Legacy is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
