Set some time aside for this

If you’re looking for something to keep you busy for a while, you should definitely check out this RPG that’s available on PlayStation Plus Extra.

PlayStation Plus Extra is a decent service to subscribe to if you’d like to play a bunch of new and recently released games at a fraction of the price.

Sure, you don’t get to keep the games, and that’s a downside for many gamers. But if you plan on just playing though them over a couple of weeks before moving onto something else, services like PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass allow you to do that without spending too much.

One such recommendation we could make is Rune Factory 4 Special, a game that originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012, but came to PlayStation in 2021 in the form of an upgraded remaster.

Added to PlayStation Plus Extra back in 2023, Rune Factory 4 Special is a bit like a mix of Stardew Valley and Final Fantasy. It’s an RPG at its core, and features dungeon-crawling and combat as major features. However, farming and marriage are also a main part of the game, too.

For those interested in checking out Rune Factory 4 Special, you’ll be able to play it on PS5 or PS4 by downloading it as part of PlayStation Plus Extra.

If you’d prefer to own it however, it’s also currently on sale for £3.74. Cheaper than a cup of coffee in some places.

How long is Rune Factory 4 Special?

If you do end up picking it up, a main story run of Rune Factory 4 Special will set you back around 38 hours, according to HowLongToBeat. Quite long, sure, but nothing too dramatic.

This is an RPG, though, so we all know you won’t stop there. Doing the main story and some side activities will take you around 78 hours to complete. Okay, now we’re getting serious.

And if you’re a completionist who strives to see everything in a game and get 100%, it’ll take you just under 160 hours to do so. Considering how much there is to do in this game, I’m not surprised it’ll take you this long.

If you’re only able to play for a few hours a week, as is the case with adulthood nowadays, you can probably expect to be playing Rune Factory 4 Special for the next entire year.

In addition to PlayStation, Rune Factory 4 Special is also available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
