PlayStation Plus subscribers can play a massive RPG at no additional cost, and it’s a banger too.

If you’re excited for Assassin’s Creed Shadows and fancy playing another one of Ubisoft’s open world adventures before it launches, I couldn’t recommend Assassin’s Creed Odyssey anymore.

It’s like Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the sense it’s another one of Ubisoft’s open-world Assassin’s Creed games, though this time it takes you to the gorgeous Mediterranean right in the middle of a war between Sparta and Athens.

Playing as either Kassandra, the best choice, or Alexios you’ll embark on a grand adventure where you’ll face men, relics, and even mythological monsters.

While the lack of stealth gameplay is a bit of a let-down, and the nautical combat is certainly a step back from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s, it’s still a fantastic game with some gorgeous scenery.

Currently it’s playable in its entirety on PlayStation Plus, though you won’t have access to the DLC unless you pay for it separately.

It’ll keep you occupied for quite a while too, with HowLongToBeat claiming an average playthrough taking between 45-85 hours depending on how much side content you do, and you can add another 30 hours or so with the DLC.

It’s also worth noting that you can also play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at no additional cost on Xbox too, but only if you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also includes a subscription to Ubisoft+, which several Assassin’s Creed titles, as well as other Ubisoft games, are a part of.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a fantastic open-world RPG whether you’re a fan of Assassin’s Creed games or not, and it’s also a perfect choice for those wanting to kill time until the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
