Assassin's Creed Odyssey has a hidden first-person mode we never knew about

A whole new perspective

We’ve spent a lot of time jumping from building to building, taking down names, and causing panic in the streets, yet we didn’t know about this mode.

Despite the criticism that virtually all new Assassin’s Creed titles face, AC Odyssey is easily the “best in the RPG trilogy”.

Given the high praise the fandom has bestowed upon this Ubisoft experience, you might feel that no improvements are necessary.

Well, technically this isn’t an improvement but simply a different way of seeing the world you’re parkouring around, and you likely had no idea it existed.

Revealed by a since deleted Redditor, there’s a first-person mode available in Odyssey.

“The Discovery Tour mode gives you the option to hold the aim button and play in first person view for the duration of the time before you decided to untoggle it,” the OP explained.

It’s by no means without its flaws, chiefly that you can’t see the arms or legs of your character.

Should first-person mode be rolled out properly in other AC games, it would be good if the developers could iron out this issue, lest it feel like we’re just a floating entity assassinating people.

Using ‘Discovery Mode’ this way won’t allow you to watch as you swing your sword or unsheathe your dagger, but it gives an idea of the untapped potential still in the franchise.

Assuming the franchise isn’t about to burn down around us now that Ubisoft’s apology has been rejected, with fans claiming it isn’t good enough.

While AC Shadows fights off accusations left, right, and centre, we have a darker story unfolding in AC Hexe, reportedly the “darkest” of the franchise.

We might never get an official first-person mode, but in Odyssey that hardly matters now we’ve discovered this nifty trick.
