If you’re looking for a PlayStation Plus game to sink your teeth into this week, the community has a pretty solid recommendation for you– and I’d wager that you almost definitely overlooked this one when it landed on the service last month.
I’ll be honest with you, I’m probably PlayStation Plus’ biggest hater.
It’s not exactly something I’ve made a habit of keeping secret over the years. Ultimately, I just don’t think the service is worth the price, especially at higher tiers.
However, Sony has done a pretty good job of bringing me around over the past few months, because (if the recent additions are anything to go by) it seems that they’re stepping up their game when it comes to the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue.

Case in point, the September's PlayStation Plus update featured some bangers. Psychonauts 2 and Stardew Valley on PlayStation Plus Essential, and Persona 5 Tactica, Fate/Samurai Remnant, and Crow Country on PlayStation Plus Extra– can hardly fault them with a line up like that.
It seems that the one addition to September’s PS Plus Extra catalogue I completely overlooked is the one that’s getting subscribers over on the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit excited, though, and that’s The Invincible: a Firewatch-esque first-person adventure game from developers Starward Industries and publisher 11 Bit Studios.
“Had this on my wishlist forever and when it finally released I bought it so fast. The aesthetic is so neat and clean”, commented user Xeroeffingcell32.
“The mystery and puzzle solving is different than typical sci-fi games. It's relatable and asks questions that humans may never have the answers to. I loved this game and encourage others to pick it up and play it.”

“I utterly adore this game so far! I love the linear story, it's so darn captivating”, replied user thegoochalizer.
“And exciting. And the whole mechanics make it feel really immersive. Would totally recommend this game!”
It seems that, much like most of the people in the thread, I’ve had this one sitting in my wishlist pile since it released back in 2023.
All the Firewatch comparisons are making me think it’s time to bite the bullet and finally get around to playing this one though, especially considering it’s based on the 1963 book of the same name by Stanisław Lem.

Thankfully, it sounds like (according to the commenters) that it’s a pretty short game, so at least you’ll be able to move on to the rest of your backlog ASAP once you’re finished.
