The first PlayStation Plus game for February 2024 has leaked early

PlayStation Plus is the gift that keeps on giving no matter what subscription tier that you’re subscribed to offering a new batch of games every month as well as a variety of additional perks.

By subscribing to the PlayStation Plus Premium tier, not only do you gain access to a large library of PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games, but you’ll also have access to classic titles of yesteryear from retro Sony consoles and this upcoming treat will be a spooktacular delight for fans of old-school survival horror.

Check out the Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare trailer below!

Previously, subscribers to PlayStation Plus Premium have already benefited from Resident Evil: Director’s Cut being added to the library and it seems that Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare will be arriving next month in February.

Originally released in 2001, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare was a reboot of the series credited to be one of the first survival horror games when it was released in 1992. Speaking of which, Alone in the Dark is receiving another reboot this year with the remake of the OG game and stars Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) as Emily Hartwood and David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Edward Carnby. Developed by Pieces Interactive and published by THQ Nordic, Alone in the Dark has suffered multiple delays, but hopefully, it will be worth the wait.

Going back to Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, I have very fond memories of playing this gruelling survival horror on the SEGA Dreamcast. Along with the PS1, this game was also available on PC, PS2 and even the Game Boy Color. The latter of which is playable via Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

So how do we know that Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is coming to PS Plus Premium, especially as it has not been announced by PlayStation? Well, it seems that PlayStation announced it by mistake. When revealing this month's games for PS Plus Extra and Premium for January 2024, the aforementioned survival horror game featured in a tweet before being deleted, as brought to our attention by Reddit user TURB0_THUNDER.

Furthermore, the PlayStation Access YouTube channel also apparently showcased Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare in a video featuring PS Plus games arriving this month, before that video was deleted with an edited version being uploaded shortly afterwards.

It’s worth keeping in mind that this is by no means official confirmation that Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is coming to PS Plus in February 2024, but this is probably as close to official confirmation without Sony making the actual announcement. As a bonus, if you had purchased the PS1 version of Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare at any point as a PS1 Classic via the PS3 or PSP/Vita digital store, you’ll have access to the game at no additional cost with or without a PlayStation Plus subscription once it becomes available. Just like any other classic PS1 or PSP that comes to the subscription service.

As for the Alone in the Dark remake, it’s currently scheduled to be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 20 March 2024.
