PlayStation Plus dropping a bunch of new free games for subscribers

The latest September PlayStation Plus extra and premium tier offerings have been announced.

Oh how quickly this day rolls around. It’s time for the latest batch of additions to PlayStation Plus’ extra and premium tiers.

It’s been a rocky couple of months for PlayStation Plus. Needless to say, fans aren’t impressed with the lacklustre game line-ups as of late. This month, essential tier subscribers can nab Saints Row (2022), Black Desert - Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero. It’s far from being the strongest offering Sony has ever provided. To rub salt in the wound, it was then announced that PlayStation Plus yearly prices would be rising by around a third. In fact, in some territories, prices have risen by as much as 600% - so you can understand why some fans are threatening to cancel their subscriptions. Unfortunately, I don’t think the latest extra and premium tier games are going to change their minds.

Day one release Sea of Stars was made available last month and is well worth checking out.

Leaker billbil-kun revealed six of the games included this month earlier this week. Those have now been confirmed to be correct. The full extra tier line-up is as follows: NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… (PS4), 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (PS4), Sid Meier’s Civilization VI (PS4), Star Ocean The Divine Force (PS4/5), Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 (PS4/5), Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (PS4), Unpacking (PS4/5), Planet Coaster: Console Edition (PS4/5), This War of Mine: Final Cut (PS5), Cloudpunk (PS4/5), Contra: Rogue Corps (PS4), Tails Noir (PS4/5), Call of the Sea (PS4/5), West of Dead (PS4), Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness (PS4), and PAW Patrol The Movie: Adventure City Calls (PS4/5).

Premium subscribers will also gain access to: Star Ocean First Departure R (PS4), Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (PS4), Star Ocean: The Last Hope - 4K & FHD Remaster (PS4), and Dragon’s Crown Pro (PS4).

I fear a poor reaction to this line-up. These latest offerings will be available to play and download as of 19 September.
