PlayStation Plus has unveiled its essential tier free game line-up for October and, unfortunately, it hasnât gone down all that well.
From Tuesday, October 6, all PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to claim F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2.
Hello Neighbor was previously announced as part of the line-up but that appears to have been done in error.
Itâs not an abysmal line-up by any means, but itâs certainly lacking in the type of recently released mass appeal title most subscribers are hoping to see.

Perhaps this will soften the blow though, as PlayStation Plus has now dropped a further seven gifts for subscribers with an additional three on the way very soon.
Youâll likely be aware that in addition to full games, PlayStation Plus also grants you access to PlayStation Plus Packs - and the line-up has just been majorly boosted.
These types of packs usually net you in-game currency or cosmetics for popular titles, with recent additions boosting the likes of Final Fantasy XIV, Call of Duty: Warzone, and more.
PlayStation Plus users can now download the following:
- PS+ subscriber GOALS player pack
- PlayStation 5 Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL Pack Ticket 50
- PlayStation 4 Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL Pack Ticket 50
- Path of Exile: Bundle 25 - PlayStation Plus
- FINAL FANTASY XIV - PlayStation Plus Reward: Aetheryte Additional Free Destination (Oct - Dec)
- Tanki Online: Exclusive Reward
- Call of Duty: Warzone Horror Bundle
Additional item packs are on the way for PlayStation Plusâ Horror Fest

As for whatâs still to come, you can nab a bonus freebie for this monthâs essential tier title Hunt: Showdown 1896 in the form of the Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack, which is due to drop on October 6; itâs not yet detailed whatâs included.
On October 7, you can then also look forward to the Overwatch 2 Dragur Reinhardt + 5 Tier Skips Pack.
Both of these releases, plus the aforementioned Call of Duty: Warzone Horror Bundle, are PlayStation Plus exclusives and are being released in celebration of the so-called âHorror Festâ.
The final freebie thatâs on the way isnât a âstuff packâ. From October 6, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to enjoy a series of limited-edition Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars on Sony Pictures Core.
Admittedly, itâs a niche freebie but perhaps someone out there will enjoy it.

It looks as if PlayStation is going to have to work much harder than this to impress its subscribers.
âNext month: MindsEye, Gollum, and poop,â joked Reddit user DeathdropsForDinner.
âStrong contender for worst month,â added moonshake0.
Another user replied, âUsually I can make an argument for the titles, even if the general audience doesn't appreciate the line-up. I got nothing this month.â
PlayStation Plus will next update subscribers with its additions to the extra and premium tiers in October with that update due in a couple of weeks' time on October 14.
We do already know that day-one release Mycopunk is coming to the extra tier on October 20.
