One way to mark the passage of time is to look forward to Sony announcing the latest exciting titles which will be added to the PlayStation Plus library each month.

And this month is no exception.

For the month of August, the lineup is looking pretty exciting as one beloved soulslike is set to be added to the PlayStation Plus library for essential tier members alongside two other exciting freebies.

So what can members expect throughout August?

Well, Lies of P, Day Z and My Hero One’s Justice 2 will all be playable from 5 August onwards.

“Battle macabre puppets in a twisted soulslike take on well-known children’s tales, use your wits to survive sprawling maps filled with threats and relive an iconic anime first-hand with the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup for August,” the official PlayStation blog post reads.

There is no doubt that we have all heard of Lies of P as it took the world by storm when it was first released back in 2023.

The soulslike is compared to the masters of the genre such as Dark Souls and Elden Ring but turns the narrative on its head by telling the story of a puppet who must traverse a twisted city plagued by both an epidemic and a puppet uprising.

Based on the 1883 novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, this is one for the fairy tale fans who are eager for that dark twist.

Next up is Day Z, a multiplayer online survival game where players must endure a post-apocalyptic world populated by frenzied infected and fellow survivors.

Following a five-year-long early access, the game was officially released in 2019 and has remained one of the titans in the multiplayer survival genre and now you can try it out for absolutely free.

Last but not least is My Hero One’s Justice 2, a 2020 fighting game based on the manga and anime series My Hero Academia.

As a sequel to the smash-hit 3D arena fighter, players can expect more of the same as they take on the roles of some of their favourite superhero characters in all out brawls.

As mentioned, these three titles will be added to the PlayStation Plus library on 5 August and will be available at no extra cost for essential members, in other words everyone!
